Bought myself a new router to replace my ASUS WL700gE

Yesterday I saw a nice cheap ย router to replace my ASUS WL700gE wich is still running great but the lack of Gigabit port on the lan side is really a bummer nowadays…also my Alienware M11xR2 wants to connect over wifi-n ๐Ÿ™‚
Now that I stream a lot over my internal network I really want to provide 1 gig to all my pc’s.
I already had a 1 gig 4 port switch hooked up to the router to connect my PS3, Workstation and my gaming pc for HD streaming.

The new router is a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND wich was on sale for 50 Euro. It provides vlan support, wifi-n, 5x 1 gb ports and OpenWrt ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 3 detachable antennas
  • 4 Port 1000/100/10 Switch
  • 1 Port 1000/100/10 Wan Interface
  • 8 MiB Flash
  • 32 MiB DDR Ram
  • 1 x USB 2.0 Host
CPU Ram Flash Network USB Serial JTag
Atheros AR9132@400MHz 32MB 8MB 4×1 Yes Yes Yes
(Source OpenWrt.org)

I Downloaded the image from the OpenWrt site. and used the web-if of the router to upgrade to OpenWrt.
In the future I Will add some extra packages ย and hook up a 250 GB 2.5″ hdd.
The progress of my router can be followed on http://tp-link.hezik.nl

lets start playing around and see how stable it is ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers

Hello,

Nice router !
I look forward to seeing what you can do with it.

I actually own a WL700gE. The default firmware is really unreliable (slow and frequent need to reboot) I’m interested by your kamikaze firmware.
Unfortunately, the link (http://download.hezik.nl/WL700gE/OpenWrt/8.09.2/openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx) is down. Can you upload this firmware and its attached scripts again, please ?

Thank you for having ported kamikaze for WL700gE.
Thumbs up !
